They may be all the episodes that were filmed, but, the series is still incomplete – semantics?
I am not enamoured with purchasing DVD’s containing what is listed as being a complete series, only to find that owing to whatever reason, usually not enough viewers, the show has been canned, and the series is actually incomplete. If fans get vocal enough, a rounding out movie appears to get made. Examples of series/movies I can think of, given my limited knowledge of these things, STARGATE/THE ARK OF TRUTH, FIREFLY/SERENITY and FARSCAPE/PEACEKEEPER WAR. The series TERRA NOVA and CRUSADE (BABYLON 5 spin-off) were apparently supposed to be at least two, if not four, seasons long, but, as far as I can ascertain, vanished after the first season, with nothing to round out plot lines, but were both sold as ‘complete’ series. What is the chance of ‘completion’ movie(s)? I suspect, NO CHANCE. Am I being a cynic, or an optimist?
Should it be illegal to be sold as a ‘COMPLETE’ series, and/or should it be able to be returned for a full refund if the series is not completed – DOUBTFUL.
